This course is intended for individuals that will be employed as rescue persons in a confined space capacity, but not in an IDLH environment. Personnel are trained in not only the hazards and entry requirements of confined spaces, but also some of the required rescue competencies as outlined in NFPA 1006, NFPA 1670 and OSHA 1910.146. Many workplaces contain spaces that are considered "confined" because their configurations hinder the activities of employees who must enter, work in, and exit them. A confined space has limited or restricted means for entry or exit, and it is not designed for continuous employee occupancy. Confined spaces include, but are not limited to underground vaults, tanks, storage bins, manholes, pits, silos, process vessels, and pipelines.
